چکیده

Abstract Introduction: The discovery of cortical adrenomedullary projections in cebus monkeys suggests that similar pathways exist humans. Notably, the major corticoadrenomedullary projection regions have human equivalents can be stimulated non-invasively with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). If rTMS used to selectively modulate activity, there may significant therapeutic benefits for stress-, affective-, or neuroimmune-related disorders. Purpose: To assess resting and stress-induced neuroendocrine responses continuous (cTBS) intermittent (iTBS) theta burst TMS Methods: 39 healthy young adults (14W) were randomly assigned three counterbalanced sessions iTBS (n=19) cTBS (n=20). Stimulation was applied motor areas contain majority non-human primates (primary cortex trunk region (M1TRUNK) presupplementary area (preSMA)). M1 leg (M1LEG) as a spatial control. locations determined based on TMS-evoked electromyographic rectus abdominus vastus lateralis using combination fMRI activity metanalytical structural coordinates (preSMA). All procedures performed 96mm curved double coil stereotactic navigation. TBS 600 biphasic pulses at 80% AMT. Corticoadrenomedullary corticospinal excitability (CSE) assayed before after TBS, immediately maximal exercise, 60min 90min plasma epinephrine concentrations median MEP AUC, respectively. Initial analysis made 2 (protocol) x 3 (visit) 5 (time-point) mixed methods ANOVA. Results Conclusions: As expected, exercise resulted large increase (p<0.0001, 8-fold) overall. Ongoing indicates target-specific changes are likely, CSE, often paradoxical. Our preliminary results also suggest subthreshold principally stress inducible. Responses of primary somatosensory cortical neurons to controlled mechanical stimulation.

The results of psychophysical studies suggest that displacement velocity may contribute significantly to the sensation of subcortical somatosensory neurons. The cortical correlates of these phenomena, however, are not known. In the present study the responses of rapidly adapting (RA) neurons in the forelimb region of cat primary somatosensory cortex (SI) to controlled displacement of skin and h...

Non-invasive cortical stimulation improves post-stroke attention decline.

PURPOSE Attention decline after stroke is common and hampers the rehabilitation process, and non-invasive transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has the potential to elicit behavioral changes by modulating cortical excitability. The authors tested the hypothesis that a single session of non-invasive cortical stimulation with excitatory anodal tDCS applied to the left dorsolateral prefro...

Effect of locus ceruleus phasic electrical stimulation on responses of barrel cortical cells to controlled mechanical displacement in rats

Behavioral and electrophysiological evidences have shown that locus ceruleus (LC) is involved in different tasks including modulation of sensory processing and shift of attention. In the present study, single unit responses of barrel cortical cells was recorded following controlled mechanical displacement of the principal and peripheral vibrissae in adult rats (100 trials of 200 µm deflection f...

Modulation of Untruthful Responses with Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation

Deceptive abilities have long been studied in relation to personality traits. More recently, studies explored the neural substrates associated with deceptive skills suggesting a critical role of the prefrontal cortex. Here we investigated whether non-invasive brain stimulation over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) could modulate generation of untruthful responses about subject's perso...
